Overview

Metabolon is seeking a Commercial Contracts Manager to support the global sales organization. This role is responsible for reviewing and negotiating quotes and customer agreements, ensuring alignment with approved commercial terms, collaborating with external counsel, as needed, and facilitating timely contract execution to support revenue growth. The Contracts Manager serves as a key operational partner to Sales, Finance, and Lab Operations, minimizing contractual risks and helping streamline the quote-to-contract process while maintaining compliance with company policies. 

 

This role will work a hybrid schedule (Tues - Thurs in office) from our Research Triangle Park, North Carolina location.

Responsibilities

Contract Management 

  • Maintain and update quote and contract templates 
  • Maintain list of pre-approved deviations and standard negotiation fallback provisions
  • Ensure executed contracts are properly documented and stored on cloud servers 
  • Accurately track opportunities and contract status within Salesforce.com  

Quote & Agreement Review 

  • Screen all incoming quotes and customer agreements for material deviations from standard terms and conditions 
  • Advise internal stakeholders on contractual duties and risk mitigation strategies
  • Review non-standard terms and coordinate internal review and approvals 
  • Flag risk areas and escalate to CFO and/or external counsel when necessary 
  • Ensure alignment between approved scientific plans, pricing, and contract scope 

Sales Support & Cross-Functional Coordination 

  • Partner closely with Sales to facilitate timely contract turnaround 
  • Coordinate approvals across Finance, QA, and Lab Operations 
  • Provide regular updates to internal Sales and Finance stakeholders on contract status 
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for contract-related questions within Sales 

Process Improvement 

  • Identify and remove bottlenecks in the quote-to-cash cycle and contract review process 
  • Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time for contract reviews 
  • Support internal reporting on contract cycle times and operational metrics 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Life Sciences, Business, or related field preferred) 
  • ABA approved Paralegal Certificate a plus.
  • 5-10 years of experience in contract management
  • Experience in life sciences, biotech, CRO, or laboratory services preferred 
  • Expert knowledge of contract law and prudent risk management principles
  • Strong attention to detail and document management skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong communication, organizational, collaboration and negotiation skills 
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.com
  • Conga Contracts or similar Contract Lifecycle Management tool experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and DocuSign
