Overview

Metabolon is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Accounting & HR Operations Specialist to support core accounting functions and payroll processing, while also contributing to HR operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and the timely execution of payroll. Key responsibilities include accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations, payroll processing, benefit enrollment, and HRIS maintenance. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, operational discipline, and a service-oriented mindset.  This position is exempt and will be required to work onsite in our RTP, NC office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. 

Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile vendor invoices and employee expense reports
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll, benefits, and accounts payable
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations for key general ledger accounts
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and account variance analysis
  • Prepare and submit payroll data; coordinate with global payroll providers to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
  • Generate and compile payroll-related reports for audits, tax filings, reconciliations, and internal reviews
  • Prepare monthly Use/Sales Tax filings and year-end 1099/1096 reports
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining AP-related SOX controls
  • Support financial audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation
  • Help automate AP and procurement processes and maintain documentation of key controls
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting in support of accounting and payroll operations
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) and document compensation changes, job status updates, commissions, and terminations
  • Audit and track employee timecards; resolve discrepancies to ensure payroll accuracy
  • Manage global tracking of employee leave and paid time off
  • Assist with benefits administration tasks, including open enrollment, qualifying life event processing, and system updates
  • Support compliance and audit-related HR documentation requests

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting, Payroll, or HR operations; hybrid exposure to finance and HR systems preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Concur, Mineral Tree, Procuredesk, or Sage Intacct is a plus
  • Public accounting or audit experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
