Overview

Metabolon is a pioneer and leader in discovery and clinical metabolomics – an integrative, powerful molecular phenotyping technology for discovery research, precision medicine screening, and diagnostic applications. Metabolon’s core business encompasses contract metabolomics services for our academic, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical customers.

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Project Manager to support operational excellence within our growing organization. This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement and executing strategic initiatives across manufacturing, fee-for-service, and facility-related projects. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to streamline operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support scalable business evolution.

You’ll play a hands-on role in the development and validation of processes, supporting facility upgrades, laboratory enhancements, and production scale-up projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven company at the forefront of metabolomics innovation.

This role will report directly to the Vice President of Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Leaders by developing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including User Requirement Specifications, Design and Development Plans, Project Schedules, Validation Plans, and summary reports.
  • Monitor and track project timelines, milestones, risks, and achievements, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Maintain and manage the project decision log and escalate issues to core teams and steering committees as necessary.
  • Collaborate on company-wide continuous improvement initiatives, collecting and organizing ideas for leadership evaluation.
  • Lead or support LEAN/Six Sigma activities such as gemba walks, WorkOut sessions, and 7 Waste reviews to foster operational efficiency and cultural transformation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; a degree in science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management with experience in pilot-scale production environments and analytical/QC laboratory settings.
  • Experience with lab or production facility renovations, up-fits, or buildouts is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with project tracking tools, with Smartsheet experience considered a plus.
  • LEAN/Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or higher is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
