We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated laboratory leader to oversee and manage the Sample Prep laboratory activities. This role requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of regulated laboratory environments, sample preparation methodologies, and team leadership in a clinical lab setting. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficiency, quality, and compliance of all laboratory processes while fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment. This position involves not only managing technical operations but also mentoring staff, coordinating cross-functional scheduling, and driving process improvements. · Serve as a mentor and leader to staff while providing technical support to team members.
· Oversee personnel training and competency.
· Drive and support a high-performance, quality centric, production-minded positive work environment
· Provides workflow-related technical guidance to group members and communicates workflow insights to partnering teams such as Curation, DTS, STATS, CTA, FSA, QA, Sales Client Success, and R&D, etc.
· Manage/oversee the scheduling for all projects across both sample prep and platform teams to include LIMS upload and worksheet development. This also includes proper delegation of tasks and associated activities as appropriate and facilitation of cross functional collaboration as it relates to scheduling activities.
· Work with laboratory management to establish/track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Execute on people/performance management activities as appropriate
· Ensures technical work performed by the Sample Prep team are carried out in alignment with Metabolon’s Quality Management System (QMS), Quality Program, and comply with local, state, federal, governmental, and GDP regulations and laws.
· Provides input for improving and refining the quality control and assurance process.
· Assume added responsibilities as directed by supervisor and executes those duties independently, providing periodic verbal or written progress updates to supervisor.
· Demonstrate strong people leadership skills with respect to recruitment, personal development and performance management to include both disciplinary action using established Performance Improvement Planning tools as well as positive reinforcement through the reward and recognition program(s).
• B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field or equivalent in relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of regulated (e.g. CLIA, CAP, COLA GCLP) laboratory experience preferred.
• 1-2 years in a eadership role required.
• A broad understanding of sample preparation methodologies used in supporting molecular and biochemical testing methods.
• Broad understanding of laboratory operations to include technical expertise with specimen management/processing, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry testing processes and methodologies.
• Strong experience with general clinical laboratory concepts, testing methods, practices and procedures is expected.
