Overview

Metabolon, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of complex, cross-functional new product development and other strategic projects that advance the growing field of metabolomics. We are looking for someone with a strong background in establishing Project Management best practices and a proven track record in direct project management within the life sciences. We expect a relentless drive for delivering quality results for the business through building high-performing cross-functional teams, leading and influencing without authority, and promoting best project management practices throughout the company.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Senior Director of Program Management to establish a disciplined Program Management process within Metabolon that incorporates best practices to pragmatically meet and/or exceed expectations across all projects
  • Manage multiple new product development, strategic, and operational improvement projects from initiation to completion, ensuring stakeholder alignment
    • Improve project planning and forecast accuracy
    • Establish and execute the project plan by leading meetings and managing resources (FTEs and costs) and deliverables. Identify and address synergies and/or conflicts across multiple projects.
    • Identify and manage stakeholders. Provide clear and consistent communication, both oral and written.
    • Monitor and control projects, manage risk, and use Smartsheet effectively
    • Close projects by conducting lessons learned sessions and proposing systematic changes for broader application
  • Drive Smartsheet implementation and adoption across the company.
  • Work independently and be accountable for all project deliverables
  • Champion high-performing teams and coach other Project Managers

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director Program Management to establish project management excellence
  • Set the standard for program and project management as a player and a coach
  • Participate in project assessments and define project scope and success criteria
  • Establish clear priorities among project activities and develop and manage plans to meet deliverables
  • Establish and manage detailed cross-functional project timelines and lead project team in timely completion of tasks
  • Manage project plans in Smartsheet
  • Provide cross-functional forecasting, tracking, reporting, and oversight on project budget
  • Proactively address any changes in project scope and access/amend requirements, budget and timeline
  • Maintain documentation and management of project deliverables. Facilitate knowledge sharing across functional areas and project teams.
  • Resolve project issues with functional area managers and stakeholders. Determine when to escalate issues to appropriate level of management.
  • Create and deliver presentations to senior leadership and stakeholders

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or technical field
  • PMP, Kaizen, or similar certification or experience
  • Proven track record with a minimum 7 years' experience in project and/or program management in biotech, pharma, or life sciences
  • Project management experience leading new product development projects, from concept through launch, following a stage-gate process
    • Extensive knowledge of, and demonstrated competency in, project management methodology and processes, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, working in cross-functional teams, issues management, monitoring and reporting, and documentation
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485:2016, CAP/CLIA certified facilities)

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working at the intersection of science, data, and software
  • Experience in clinical test development, laboratory services, or laboratory developed tests
  • Proficiency in Smartsheet
  • Familiarity with Waterfall and AGILE methodologies
  • Experience managing multiple and/or complex projects
    • A proven ability to think strategically and work tactically
    • Passion for delivering value through science
  • Strong communication skills with senior management, peers, and project teams
  • Ability to negotiate consensus among diverse groups and influence without authority
  • Personal integrity and the ability to escalate issues responsibly
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle deadline pressure, ambiguity and change
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
